Testosterone filled nightmares...
As a self confessed romantic, I often find myself disappointed with my relationships, and all because I have ridiculously high expectations, thank you Mills & Boon. Growing up, I was obsessed with those books, they were easy to read, easy to get into and you knew that there was always going to be a happy ending. You don't realise just how unrealistic those books are, real life doesn't always have a happy ending, men don't always make grand romantic gestures and not everyone stays faithful.
Despite the above negativity, I am not jaded and I believe strongly that true love exists.
However I am a glutton for punishment, I seem to be attracted to one specific type - the non-committal bad-boy.
Who among us isn't attracted to the idea of being able to tame a bad-boy? Classic Literature had Scarlett O'Hara wanting Rhett, Cathy wanting Heathcliffe, Mr. Darcy. Modern Movies such as Billy-Bob Thornton's portrayal of 'Bad Santa' had women falling over themselves for him, warming to his rogue ways, hell it even translates into the real world, Charlie Sheen has the beautiful Denise going back to him time after time, ignoring his drinking, drug taking, cheating and abusive ways. J-Lo loved P-Diddy until the shooting incident which showed her that her bad-boy was perhaps a bit too bad.
I must say J-Lo has me beat hands down, while I like a bad boy, I don't seem to date the really bad ones, if P-Diddy is a lion, then the guys I've dated are gazelle's.
Journey back with me through the disasters as this week, I'll share with you stories of Dates From Hell.
